Get creative with your canapes and host the wedding reception of a lifetime for peanuts! Sometimes it’s the little things that add big money to a limited budget. Trying to decide what to feed your guests and keeping it under your budget is super-easy if you just tweak things to your advantage. People love little eats and snacks. What better way to make your guests feel loved than with the gift of canapes!
Cured Salmon Bites
Get fancy with gravlax! One posh, budget-friendly way to serve salmon is on a mini-everything bagel from Lexi’s Clean Kitchen. A clean eating favourite of mine, these lil’ rolls pack a punch of flavour! Simply make super-mini versions of Lexi’s Everything Bagel Cauliflower Rolls and top with cream cheese, cured salmon and dill. source
Fish n’ Chip Bites
Go cheap with Fish n’ Chips and keep it looking swanky with kettle chips. You can usually get kettle chips or crisps on the cheap at a wholesale cost. Simply top with a homemade tartar sauce and a piece of fish. Try fried cod or cured salmon, tempura battered trout, or cornmeal dusted catfish for budget friendly options. source
Loaded Nacho Bites
What better way to spice things up at your wedding reception that with loaded nacho bites! My favourite way to make these bad boys are with sweet potato crisps! Simply use a mandolin to thin slice sweet potatoes, bake them until crisp and top with guacamole, a tomato slice, shredded chicken, cheese–anything you fancy on nachos, really. Of course if you want to kick it up a notch, mix in ¼ cup of salsa per cup of guacamole! source
Beetroot & Brie Vol Au Vent
My sweet, little budget-friendly twist on the vol au vent, this canape with knock your socks off! Simply get a boat load of beetroot crisps, place them on a parchment paper lined baking tray, top them with a sliver of brie, bake at 350 F/180 C for 10 minutes. Drizzle with honey, and voila–heaven on your palate! source
Thai Chicken Bites with Peanut Dipping Sauce
What better way to serve budget-friendly chicken than with a delicious Thai dipping sauce that will make your guests go, “WOW!” My favourite Thai peanut sauce is a very easy recipe from Rasa Malaysia, and can be spiced up with a drizzle of chili oil for a little fun! source
