Brittany McComas

The bestie and I stumbled upon a killer little slice of the south in Pittsburgh a few weeks back called Buford’s Kitchen, and boy did they have something “Oh! So special” on their menu. Booze filled milkshakes for the alcoholic kid in you. Naturally, my first thought was this would be totally awesome served at a wedding as a signature drink. So here’s my take on one fabulous way to cool things down and incorporate a cool new trend on your big day!

Vanilla Ice

This one is straight out of the 90’s for those of you that remember old-school Dairy Queen Ice Cream.

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 50 ml vanilla vodka
  • Pinch of salt
  • Top with Nerds & Captain Crunch Cereal

Choco-Nanas

Who doesn’t like chocolate and bananas!?

  • 1 pint chocolate ice cream
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1/4 cup chocolate milk
  • 25 ml banana liqueur
  • 25 ml chocolate vodka

Jack & Coke

Thanks Bufords! I have no clue what is actually in their milkshake other than Jack, Coke and the top secret topping. *wink, wink.

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 1/4 cup Coca-Cola
  • 50 ml Jack Daniels
  • Top with Crushed Potato Chips and Pretzels

Pina Colada

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1 tablespoon cream of coconut
  • 50 ml dark rum

Mint Chocolate Julep

For a summer southern treat, whip up these refreshing milkshakes!

  • 1 cup mint chocolate chip ice cream
  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 50 ml bourbon
  • Top with mint leaves

Root Beer Float

Nothing says “cool” like an old school root beer float with booze!

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 1/4 cup Coney Island Hard Root Beer
  • 25 ml vanilla vodka
  • Pinch of salt

Chocolate Covered Cherries

One of my favourite things to order when it comes to ice cream–why not fill it with booze!?

  • 1 pint chocolate ice cream
  • 1 cup dark cherries, pitted & frozen
  • 25 ml chocolate vodka
  • 25 ml Grand Mariner
  • Top with chocolate chunks

Tiramisu

If you love tiramisu, you can serve this little slice of boozy heaven at your wedding reception.

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 25 ml coffee liqueur
  • 25 ml creme de cacao
  • 25 ml vanilla vodka
  • Top with whipped cream and pieces of ladyfingers

Dreamsicle

Remember those delicious, creamy, orange flavored dreams the ice cream man served? This recipe is actually to die for, and something I stumbled upon when making smoothies. Why not fill it with booze, too!?

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 50 ml orange juice
  • 50 ml whipped vodka
  • ½ cup frozen cantaloupe
  • ½ cup frozen watermelon
  • Top with whipped cream

When it comes to making all of these delicious treats for your wedding, just blend. In my personal opinion, hire a bartender for two hours to serve guests one or two of these delicious made to order signature milkshakes. Or do mini-versions with mini burgers and fries!
